Regional Account Director / Market Access - South Central Region - Greater Houston

The Regional Account Lead will be responsible for managing all aspects of targeted/assigned regional accounts to include all channel and vertical segments.

argenx is evaluating our lead candidate, efgartigimod, in multiple serious autoimmune indications and cusatuzumab in hematological malignancies in collaboration with Janssen, along with advancing earlier stage assets within its therapeutic franchises.

What we are looking for

The Regional Account Lead will be responsible for managing all aspects of targeted/assigned regional accounts to include all channel and vertical segments. This person will work directly with argenx cross functional partners (Market Access, Sales, Marketing, Medical, Legal) as the single point of contact responsible for argenx portfolio of products.

The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure appropriate access to argenx portfolio of products and optimal economics while minimizing barriers to access. The right candidate will possess a broad and deep network of relationships with assigned accounts to execute the argenx Market Access strategy.

This individual will also be responsible for developing business relationships with appropriate individuals within the accounts to align the business needs of the customer and argenx as appropriate. They will also be responsible for developing, maintaining and executing account business plans that deliver on the described requirements. 

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities 

Responsibilities (as outlined below) include assigned Regional payers and vertical channel segments within assigned accounts. This person will interact with other personnel within the US and Global Market Access team, and ultimately be responsible for the implementation of  account specific strategies and tactics designed to ensure appropriate access. Additionally the role will be responsible for providing critical, timely, account level competitive intelligence concerning  assigned regional payers and home infusion marketplace to stakeholders within the argenx organization. The role will provide insights and recommendations to the argenx Market Access Team and assist in the development of a strategic launch plan for efgartigimod across all indications in preparation for approval.

  • Identify, develop and execute business opportunities by focusing on appropriate positioning and messaging of argenx products within targeted customer segments
  • Identify, resolve and communicate dispensing and/or product access issues or trends to the impacted region(s) and access team
  • Research and interpret Medicare Part D and commercial payer coverage policies which may impact access to argenx products
  • Educate Sales, Marketing and other key stakeholders on targeted payer coverage policies for argenx products
  • Proactively identify potential marketplace trends/barriers within targeted accounts as well as overall payer landscape and reactively respond to any identified reimbursement, coverage issues and market access challenges
  • Strategically deploys resources (individual skills and company resources) throughout the lifecycle of the account relationship to maximum impact within the account
  • Analyze and understand payer environment, key account business dynamics and priorities, and align argenx priorities to create account plans that deliver activities that contribute to the defined business objectives
  • Develop and grow business partnerships and relationships with key C-Suite and administrative roles within an assigned account (CEO, CFE, CMO, Director of Pharmacy, Director of Quality, Director of Actuarial Planning, Director of Case Management) 
  • Review and analyze product performance via our specialty pharmacy partners as it relates to assigned regional payer accounts 
  • Ability to engage infusion partners in performance related conversations, ensuring performance metrics and continuous improvement processes are in place
  • Analyze market dynamics and be able to speak to their impact on channel dynamics
  • Have complete understanding of the current Regional Payer marketplace and its impact on regional sales territories
  • Possess strong clinical acumen that can be delivered in a compelling manner that ensures optimal access
  • Ability  to clearly articulate value proposition of argenx products
  • Exercise sound judgment and oversight to ensure integrity and compliance with company policies in all activities and communications

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required
  • Recent Buy and Bill launch experience required
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare B/D, and reimbursement programs required 
  • Established and well documented key contacts with assigned Regional payers is required
  • Recent product Launch Experience with Regional Payers required
  • Demonstrated value based contracting understanding and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience operating in an cross functional, matrix environment
  • Ability to think strategically, compliantly and bring a high level of creativity to the organization

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry,  Orphan and rare disease experience required
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in primary management of Regional Payer accounts
  • 60-70% Travel required
